My Best Friend, My Shadow, My Heart
Today, we honor Rocket—a soul who was so much more than a pet. Rocket was my best friend, my constant shadow, and my heart’s companion. From the moment Rocket came into my life, every day was brighter, every walk more meaningful, and every quiet moment more comforting.
Rocket loved adventure. Long hikes, peaceful walks, and those slow pauses to sniff the world were Rocket’s joy. Outings were his favorite—whether strolling through town, shopping, visiting tap rooms, or sharing a meal at a restaurant. Rocket embraced life with a spirit that reminded me to savor every moment.
At home, Rocket was my calm in the chaos. He would nap peacefully or sit through long work meetings, never complaining, just being there—his presence speaking louder than words ever could. His favorite pastimes were simple: eating, sleeping, walking, and taking those long breaks to explore the scents of life. And oh, how Rocket loved his dinners—but nothing lit up his eyes quite like French fries, puppy patties, and chicken nuggets. Those little joys were his treasures.
Rocket’s heart was full of love—not just for me, but for his family of friends who preceded him across the rainbow: his brothers Rocky, Riley, and Bun Buns, and his cousins Baby, Lulu, Pongo, Max, and Cali. I imagine them now, tails wagging and ears perked, welcoming Rocket with joy, ready for endless walks and play in fields that never end.
One of my favorite memories will always be our hikes together—Rocket, Riley, and me—the Tres Amigos. Side by side, we explored trails, shared quiet moments under open skies, and lived the kind of days that stay in your heart forever. Those adventures were pure happiness, and I will carry them with me always.
Rocket taught me the meaning of loyalty, the beauty of living in the present, and the comfort of unconditional love. Though his paws no longer walk beside me, his spirit will forever guide my steps.
Thank you, Rocket, for every wag, every walk, every memory. You will always be loved, always be missed, and never forgotten.
Run free, Rocket. Until we meet again.
